Governor's Distinguished Managers Association

About the association

In 1985, the Governor's Distinguished Management Leadership Awards program was created to formally recognize state government managers who demonstrate outstanding management excellence. Governor Booth Gardner signed Executive Order 91-08 to institutionalize the program. Learn more about the association's history.

Each year, the Association's board creates a theme. This year's is Leading through Change.

GDMA 2015-16 Meeting Dates
Meetings have been set for the dates below. All meetings are held from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

  • Nov. 20, 2015  - No meeting
  • Dec. 11, 2015 - Guest speaker – Linea Laird (Assistant Secretary - Department of Transportation)
  • Jan. 22, 2016 - Michael Cockrill (State Chief Information Officer)
  • Feb. 19, 2016 - Rick Garza (Agency Director – Liquor and Cannabis Board)
  • March 18, 2016 - Guest speaker - Marty Brown (Executive Director - State Board for Community and Technical Colleges)
  • April 22, 2016 - Technology Panel -  David Sorrell, (CIO, Department of Revenue), Ann Bruner, (CIO, Department of Licensing), Joy Danzer, (Unemployment Tax and Benefits Technical Manager, Employment Security Department)
